CAS Mixup - just because ...

Hello!

Stopping by to play in the CAS Mixup - Metals challenge for October.  My card includes aluminum foil, smooshing, die cuts, stamping.  The faintly colored metal burst was die-cut from the leftover piece of aluminum foil that was used to scribble Sharpie markers then blend with alcohol to smoosh the background panel. I like how the wrinkles in the foil give the burst a slightly distressed look The colors of the Sharpies are purples, pinks, oranges, yellow.  Both the foil piece and background panel had waited a couple of months to be used!! To make the foil burst stand out from the smooshed panel, it was adhered slightly amiss to a black "patent leather" (it looks like that) circle die cut.  A small die cut heart from the same smooshed panel paired with a purple colored gem was added ... just because it seemed to work. The sentiment was stamped a few times in hybrid black ink for a rich and crisp look.

Thank you for visiting and commenting ... always appreciate your feedback.

Note:  This is a color palette that is not my norm.  Also, for future ...glue the foil to card stock before cutting, because it is so fragile.  (There was no foil crumpling or tearing ... just had to carefully pick it off the cutting plates.)

Twofer Card Challenge #8 - Geometric

Greetings!

Another fun challenge at Twofer where the prompt is Geometric.  A framed stitched square die was used for my cards.

Card 1 - Celebrate It's Your Day (Birthday category)

The negative of the die was used (times 5) and stamped with the same flower on each.  The flower squares were adhered to a strip of royal blue and white diagonal striped DP.  A strip of royal blue foil DP was added for shine.  The sparkle on the card comes from the royal blue gems on each flower.  The Celebrate sentiment completes the card.

This card will also be entered into the MFT Summer School - Session 2 - Monochromatic

Card 2 - May Your Holidays Sparkle (Christmas category)
The stitched frame piece of the die was used to create three shaker windows that were filled with multi-colored sparkly sequins. A black foil strip adds interest. An appropriate sentiment completes the card.

CAS Mix Up - thinking of you

Greetings!

CAS Mix Up August 2018 has a fun challenge at this time ... it is Stencil Monoprint.  I was so intrigued that I gave it a go.  My rendition includes the stencil monoprint, stamping, die-cuts and stitching on the die-cut.

Distress Inks in the shades of Picked Raspberry and Spiced Marmalade were inked onto the back of a swirly-design stencil ... then the ink was sprayed with water ...then the inky wet stencil was placed on water color paper and pressed down to absorb some of the liquid. After removing the stencil and when the paper was dry, the flower and sentiment were stamped in black hybrid ink. The flower was colored in the same shades as the panel using Prismacolor pencils. A black die-cut panel was slightly offset on two sides of the colored panel for added interest. A few clear sequins add a little sparkle.

CAS Watercolour and CAS Mixup - sending you ...

Hello Everyone!

Time to play cards in two challenges:

--CAS Watercolour - Splash Watercolouring Technique and CAS Mixup - Colour Your Dies

In honor of Nancy's last challenge as host, the technique at CAS Watercolour is Splash Watercolouring.

The green panel, sun and arc behind the sun were created using Distress/Distress Oxide Inks in greens, yellows and pinks using Loll's Splash Watercolour Technique then die-cut.  To add some interest a circle die-cut from the pink panel was offset behind the sun. Part of the sentiment was stamped with Versamark and heat embossed using white EP onto a die-cut piece of grey card stock. The rest of the sentiment was stamped using black hybrid ink. For dimension the sun was popped up using foam tape. A few clear sequins complete the card.

Methods used:  Water-colour Splash, die-cuts, stamping, heat embossing.

Twofer - Butterflies

Hello!

Time to play in Darnell's Twofer Card Challenge #5 - Butterflies.  This challenge is thoroughly enjoyable ... making two cards for one challenge.

The cards presented are in the Birthday and Get Well categories.   The common element is the solid butterfly die cut from MFT Fancy Butterflies.

Card 1 - Happiest of Birthdays.  The butterfly was cut from a watercolor panel spritzed with water and color shine and half of it was adorned with gear die-cuts cut from the same watercolor panel and embellishments randomly placed for a mixed media look. A gear and enamel heart embellishment were adhered to the center. The butterfly was attached to an embossed wood-grain panel then adhered to the larger stitched rectangle panel. A simple birthday sentiment finished the card.

Card 2 - sending get well wishes. The butterfly was cut from a Distress Oxide Ink blended panel.  The companion to the solid die-cut butterfly was cut from vellum.  A few gemstones in the colors of the solid panel were attached to the spine. The butterfly was attached to a framed panel with an embossed inset using the MFT Grosgrain Texture Board.  A simple sentiment completes the card.

CAS Watercolour - You Did It!

Greetings!

The CAS Watercolour Challenge for May is Rainbow.  My rendition includes the following:

On a white panel the rainbow explosion was created using a stamp from MFT Distressed Patterns using a variety of Distress Inks. After stamping, each of the colored areas was placed lightly into water spritzed onto my craft mat to enable the colors to slightly blend/run.  When the rainbow panel was dry, it was over stamped with a Water Droplets Background stamp.  The white panel was created using Stitched Cloud Edges die and trimmed with black using the same die. The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

Thank you for looking and commenting ... always appreciate your feedback.

Wish everyone a wonderful Mother's Day!

Twofer - Get Well - Thinking of You

Greetings!

Another fun challenge at Darnell's Twofer Card Challenge #3.  This episode's opportunity is Blossom.

The sentiment on Card 1 (on the right in the picture) falls within the Get Well category.  Card 2 (on the left) is Thinking of You.  From MFT Doodle Blooms stamp and dies I used a stamp and die to create a trio of flowers in Card 1.  Card 2 uses the same stamp and die for the middle of the large flower.  Bold and bright colors with glittery flower centers were used in Card 1.  Card 2 was created using softer colors with a flower printed enamel dot for the center.

CAS Mix Up - sending get well wishes

Greetings!

Today, playing in the February CAS Mix Up card challenge.  Our inspiration is to use Felt, Cork or Canvas plus stamping plus a choice.

My card includes cork, water color, die-cut, dry embossing, stamping.  I die-cut the detailed butterfly from cork.  The water color panel beneath was cut using a solid butterfly die.  The butterfly is mounted on a "quilted" round panel.  The quilting was achieved by using a striped cutting plate to dry emboss ... ran it through Big Shot twice ... the second time at a 90 degree angle.  A few gray-toned gems  and sentiment complete the card.

Twofer - Hearts - Joy and Hugs

Greetings!

Today, I'm playing in the Twofer Card Challenge #2 - Hearts... a new and very creative opportunity for card making developed by Darnell and her design team.  How fun to design two different cards with different themes using the same stamp and/or die.

My two cards use one of the MFT Stitched Heart Stax Die-namics as the common element.

Card 1 - a very CAS creation - an alcohol ink blended panel was used to die-cut a heart.  The sentiment was die-cut three times using MFT Slate Grey cardstock and the MFT Joy die.  The sentiment layers were glued together and painted with a couple coats of clear WOS.  A few clear sequins complete the card.

Card 2 - the same MFT Stitched Heart Die-namic was used to cut a heart from MFT Electric Red card stock. The heart was embellished with Distress Ink die-cuts using Sizzix (Tim Holtz) Gear Head dies. A die-cut arrow and a stamped Hugs sentiment complete the card.

Thank you for visiting ... always appreciate your feedback.
